Do I Need An Audience?

Do you need an audience? No, definitely not. I don't have an Instagram account. I don't have a Facebook account. I'm not on social media. I go on Twitter every now and again. I have a bit of Substack that I play with every now and again. But you don't need an audience. I've scaled this business to multi seven figures a year, scaling another business to nearly eight figures a year without social media or without relying on social media to bring in any of the backend buyers.

The whole beauty of this system is that it's permissionless, that you don't need this crowd to validate you in order to build an amazing product and to serve people, but the book does that for you. It's something that's definitely backwards in the coaching space, where a lot of people assume that you need to have a big audience in order to grow a great coaching business. But it's more of a symptom of the marketing and business space in general, where people are trying to sell you influencer trainings, content creation trainings.

The incentives of people sharing that message is generally very clear of why they're sharing that. And me, I've been in rooms with amazing founders, multi nine-figure a year founders, eight-figure founders. And what I would say is there's almost an inverse correlation between number of followers and how solid their business are. And the people that I've always met that have got hundreds of thousands of followers and a beautiful Instagram feed and this great brand are always the brokest entrepreneurs that I've met.

And the people that have six followers on Instagram, and it's a picture of their baby, it's generally the silent killer who's doing crazy numbers. So audiences, I don't value them. In the platform audiences, I value email lists highly, but that's not a part of what's required here in order to grow an amazing business
